The Shake

Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry.
On occasion we will get a pumpkin spice, or an egg nog, or a shamrock flavor, but for years the same old big 3 C-V-S
Why not drop the strawberry for banana ?
I would love a banana shake !
Maybe drop the chocolate and switch to coffee, they are pushing all the McCafe stuff, I mean just a thought.
I am just so tired of the big 3.
They do so much to change things up, and keep up with the times at the fast food places, why not come up with another flavor for their ice cream ?
I can see it now, A McRib, fries, and a banana shake.
Oh well, let me go grab some celery sticks.

A Fresh Quarter

I slipped into the drive thru at a McDonald's today right at the peak of the lunch hour, and I was about the fourth or fifth car back from the speaker, so I guessed about a 15 minute wait.
While inching ahead, I was sorting some papers, and I knew just what I wanted, a sweet tea and a quarter pounder with cheese.
I finally got to the window, got my bag, and pulled back onto the road and as I got my sandwich out, I noticed how incredibly fresh it looked.
I hate to complain about a fresh sandwich, but wait a second.
The cheese was still stiff.
Yeah, I said it, the cheese was all stiff and pointy.
I am old enough to remember when McDonald's used to make a lot of burgers, and then slide them under those red lights wrapped up in that waxed paper, and when you got it, the bun was all soft, and the cheese was runny, and it was like burger perfection.
Now, I have a freshly made, cold cheese, cardboard box, quarter pounder.
Hooray for progress ?

I Got Angry

I made a trip to town on Monday, and at around 2 in the afternoon, My son and I realized the fact that we had not had lunch
With McDonalds on one side of the street, and a Burger King on the other, the onion rings were calling my name
BK has a new Whopper ever few month's, and on this visit, they were promoting a new one called the Angry Whopper, and it looked like a good match for my rings and sweet tea

I have always been a fan of BK sandwiches, and always have a hard time deciding between a fish, chicken, or burger, but I have to say, I made the right choice today. This burger actually had some heat to it, and the fried onions were great
I do not write this as an ad for the restaurant, but as a plea to keep those fried onions. They may be a match for the onion rings they serve now. Maybe they could offer them as a side ?
Oh well, just wishful thinking

Free lunch ?

I love a deal. 2 for 1, or 1/2 off, and FREE! Today as I was on my way to Home Depot, I heard an ad on the radio for McDonalds that said Free chicken sandwiches today! My son and I got an instant smile. We hurried through the store gathering materials we needed for our little project, loaded the truck, and pulled out of our parking spot. My son say's "You hungry dad ?" and I told him " yeah boy, wer'e getting some chicken today " As I pulled into the drive thru, I realized that many others had heard the same ad, but I was only about 4 cars back and it was worth the wait. We both ordered the large sweet tea and some fries, and in return we got 2 free chicken sandwiches. I am a Big Mac guy myself, but I have to tell you, that new chicken sandwich is the most simple, and best tasting sandwich I have ever had. It was bun, pickle, and chicken. They really have a winner with this one. The seasoning on the chicken tasted different, something new, that was a welcome change from the taste of the other sandwiches I have eaten. I saw that they have a chicken biscuit for breakfast also. I havent tried it yet, But my son and I might need to hit the Home Depot again in the AM, and maybe grab some breakfast. Great job McDonalds, Love your sandwich
